INDIGENOUS RELATIONS

Bandit Energy Indigenous Relations

Bandit Energy Services respectfully acknowledge the Indigenous, Metis and Inuit people who are the original inhabitants and caretakers of this land. Treaty 6 and Region 2 of the Metis Homeland are the traditional homeland, hunting and ceremonial gathering place of the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Metis, Dene and Nakota Sioux who have cared for and called this land home.

Together we acknowledge this shared history and are grateful for the opportunity to a continued journey towards reconciliation.

BANDIT ENERGY RECOGNIZES THE DIVERSITY OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES WHO LIVE WHERE WE WORK AND OPERATE.

We understand that the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada has had destructive impacts on the social and economic wellbeing of Indigenous Peoples. Bandit Energy Services recognizes the importance of reconciliation between Indigenous communities and broader society. Positive relationships with Indigenous Peoples, based on mutual respect and focused on achieving common goals, will create constructive outcomes for Indigenous communities and for Bandit Energy Services.

Four Principles

Bandit Energy commits to pursuing sustainable relationships with indigenous nations and groups.

To achieve this we govern ourselves by 4 principles:

01

We recognize the legal and constitutional rights possessed by Indigenous Peoples in Canada and the importance of the relationship between Indigenous Peoples and their traditional lands and resources. We commit to working with Indigenous communities in a manner that recognizes and respects those legal and constitutional rights and the traditional lands and resources to which they apply, and we commit to ensuring that our projects and operations are carried out in an environmentally responsible manner.

02

We recognize the importance of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) within the context of existing Canadian Law and the commitments that government has made to protecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples.

03

We commit to working with Indigenous Peoples to achieve benefits for them resulting from Bandit Energy Services’ projects and operations, including opportunities in training and education, employment, procurement, business development, and community development.

04

We foster understanding of the history and culture of Indigenous Peoples among Bandit Energy Services’ employees and contractors, to create better relationships between Bandit Energy Services and Indigenous communities.
